"Building Lives Through Change"
Capital Campaign

Our plan starts with the mission . . . . provide a safe haven for children that fosters hope. To continue meeting that mission successfully, we must meet the challenges successfully.

Genesis Youth Crisis Center, Inc. has purchased 40 acres of land to build a new combined facility. The new campus will be located at #5 Eagle Way, adjacent to Robert C. Byrd High School.

Initial site development plans and architectural renderings have been completed and construction will take place in four basic stages.

The new campus and facility will solve the aging structural problems inherent with the Genesis Youth Center and allow for integration of our services.

The Goal of the three-year Capital Campaign is $6,895,000, which will cover site development, construction, professional services, furniture, fixtures and equipment. The staged construction plan will allow Genesis Youth Crisis Center to proceed on a timetable that parallels fundraising.

The Capital Campaign will succeed as a partnership of public and private entities with an interest in the continuing success of the Genesis program. Those who believe in the mission can support the campaign in several ways. Every gift to the Capital Campaign is valuable, both as a commitment from the community being served and as a functional contribution towards construction costs. While a "thank you" for gifts to the campaign cannot match the appreciation with which they are received, certain naming rights opportunities allow for that thank you to be expressed for years to come.

Quite simply, our program has excelled in facilities that are not conducive to delivering a modern, integrated program. The Genesis Youth Center is in need of considerable capital repairs and improvements to meet the standards required for child care services and municipal building codes. Given the building’s age and structural limitations, making the necessary improvements is not economically feasible.

The Alta Vista Shelter represents a better home, but as a second site, requires a duplication of many core services . . . . . administration, education, food service and supervision. And the property is not large enough to consider expansion.

Your generous support will help make our dream a reality for children in need throughout West Virginia. Would you like to help us "Build Lives Through Change" with a donation? Would you like information on how you or your group can become part of our campaign team?
