Genesis Youth Center
The Genesis Youth Center is a short term, 12-bed facility serving youth from the ages of ten to seventeen.

Alta Vista Shelter
The Alta Vista Shelter is a short term, 8-bed facility designed for younger children ages six to fourteen.


Both facilities provide a therapeutic environment comprised of supportive counseling, group interaction, life skills and behavior management. Each center has an accredited school program on-campus, taught by a teacher certified by the Harrison County Board of Education. Each child’s education level is assessed and an education plan is established for each individual.

The extensive recreation program provides activities that shift leisure time into productive time. The activities promote the importance of integrity, good sportsmanship, learning and fun.

The success of our programs and services is illustrated by the number of children we have served. In the past two years alone, nearly 500 children have resided in the Genesis facilities, resulting in an occupancy rate exceeding 95%. While most residents come from counties in north central West Virginia, virtually every part of the state has been served.
